You simply cannot make this up. Now not only have these people lost their homes to fire but the city leaders want their properties for low-income housing. Lawyers for the people who have lost their homes are now ramping up a court case to stop this grab by left wing idiots.

Quote:A prominent public-interest law firm is warning that Los Angeles’ apparent requirement that older apartments be replaced with income-restricted low-income housing is an “unconstitutional taking” that, if applied to homes destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire, would add “insult to injury.”

LA mandating low-income housing in Palisades rebuild could be unconstitutional, experts say

If the voters will wake up to see how ugly and criminal leftist democrats are to stop this from developing if not, I don't really care because they are sheep's standing around to be sheared by the elected people who don't give a shit about them.

Really, I want to know why they allow the abuse on them, are they drugged or born lazy and stupid, what is it about the people down there who allows leftists walk all over them even after revelations of poor planning and fire management, they scream over it for a few weeks now they roll over on their back to be abused some more.

There is a reason why I have stayed away from Califoolia as it is a sick state with something in the air and water that makes them stupid as shit and why to stay away to prevent from getting infected.

There's an evil part of me that simply says, "Angelenos cultured and promoted all this hyperliberal, Left-wing shit themselves -- and now -- they're stuck with it."  Well... TOO FUCKING BAD!    evil

Let what's happened to Los Angeles and much else of California be a stark, crystal-clear warning to us in the rest of the United States!

LA shouldn't be mandating anything. They're the reason for this entire fiasco.

Perchance is this "prominent public-interest law firm" Individual Liberty & Property Rights | Pacific Legal Foundation If so, land-grabbing bureaucrats hate them, because they are effective.

ETA: This appears to be a link to the article, https://www.conservativenewsdaily.net/br...-examiner/ . It's a WashEx article, but it's behind a subscription wall for me. And my guess was correct, the public interest law firm is Pacific Legal Foundation. They cut their teeth fighting the execrable California Coastal Commission (which needs to be flayed and gutted).

The CCC needs to be disbanded permanently.  So much liberal control bloat in Cali makes it impossible to do anything on a time line.

I am no fan of Eminent Domain, except where absolutely necessary and never to be gifted to private corporations.
This does seem to beg a meaningful question though. If we are to stabilize housing cost for the working person and the poor then we need to find a way to break up the ghettos with reasonable safe housing you can afford with a full time job. No one wants this in their neighborhood. However, if multi dwelling apartment houses can be zoned out, they should be able to be zoned in

The problem, this was a single-family home area and is owned by private people. Land grabbing after a natural disaster is WRONG! Nothing like stabbing people in the back while they are down.
