A trip too far

Monday to Friday I work away on contracts, my employers book hotels or Airb&b in a near area to the contract.

This week finds me in Maidenhead, nothing wrong with that, it's a three  hour drive on Monday mornings, but a four hour plus on a Friday afternoon.

This week I was booked into a hotel in Rochester, it's a 25 minute drive in the morning, 35 minutes on an evening. 

My younger colleagues have been booked into a nearby Airb&b. The house has 3 bedrooms, as I'm the old guy I've been ostracised for being old, and an ageist view has been taken against me. 

My drive to and from my hotel is truly getting on my tits. The average southern monkey (cockney geezer) has no idea how to drive and is making life hell for me on my daily hike.

My commute

Four years before I retired, we moved back to my beloved Pennsylvania hills and drove back and forth to work every day, it was 151 miles one way.  In the wintertime I would pack my camping gear, cot, sleeping bag and pillow in the car in case I got stuck at work.  You don't have a commute; you have pleasant morning and afternoon drive.

My commute

As you can see from the map the route (root)  is pretty straight forward, but! It is deceiving. The whole area is built up. Traffic from the M20 and M2 motorways converge onto to and trying to get on them from the A229.   

 It's a nightmare. 

Your 151 miles of luxury driving I would have envied.
